If you are looking for a bio of a Jewish Nobel Prize laureate, then this is the place - the Israel Science and Technology Homepage.
Although the graphics are so minimalist they almost don't exist, the
important part of this site is its data base which allows you to search
according to topic, country, year, etc. Definitely a site to bookmark for
that occasional debate you are having with a friend.

It may seem that there is nothing more esoteric and
"seemingly irrelevant" to daily Jewish life than the study of the tekhelet -
the blue fringe associated with the biblical commandment to tie a thread of tekhelet around
the tzitzit (fringes) of a cornered garment. You can learn more about this fascinating and little known dye on the P'til Tekhelet site. I
especially found its history and library sections fascinating.

Even as news sites get better, we often want to read something which has nothing to do with terror, crises or politics. If this sounds like you then look at Israel 21 century. The site is clean, information up to date, with articles on such varied topics as biotechnology, fighting forest fires, and a points of view section. Their interactive cabinet is a must see considering all the firings and hiring in the government. It must take a lot of effort to keep it up to date.
