Your gateway to the wealth of information from the Jewish Agency

July 2001

http://www.sephardim.com/html/lore.html

Genealogy sites are among the more popular sites on the Internet. Sephardim.com is no exception. The lore page has interesting links and pictures. There is an excellent search engine on another page to find family names. Unfortunately, as in many of the site's pages, you have to scroll through a lot of text to get to it. One final picky point; many sites are now using music backgrounds. I would hope that a Sephardic site would use music a bit more indigenous than "Heveinu Shalom Aleichem". Still, all in all, there is much to learn here.

So it's summer and hopefully you are one of those who have decided to visit Israel "davka" this year. Now all you need is a good nature walk. One of the nicest sites around is brought to you by The Israel Nature and National Parks Protection Authority. Unfortunately, not all of the Hebrew main site has been translated into English, but what there is here is well done, with good graphics and great information (Especially the park and reserve section) - so it's well worth a visit.

I never understood why people would want others to look into their private lives over the Internet. Be that as it may, it doesn't seem to bother the dolphins any. It also doesn't bother those on the beach. Actually the feature I liked best was the weather page.

If you're looking for a Jewish web portal that is selective with the sites they feature, check out Arutz Sheva's Jewish Universe. There may not be an an abundance of categories and sites listed, but I found the short description and homepage image for each link very helpful and certainly a time-saver.

This month marks 25 years since the Entebbe rescue operation. For a straight and accurate historical account of the rescue, try the Entebbe diary at the Israel Defense Forces's official site.
