This month, Holocaust Remembrance Day comes around again and
in the wake of the David Irving case and the rise of Haiderism in Austria, we
need to take a fresh look at educating ourselves and our children about
this traumatic time. The Florida Center for Instructional Technology,
has done a wonderful and tasteful job of combining accounts as seen by the
liberators. Photos videos, web links and teaching tools make this
a definite site to bookmark.

By now, you all know that I love Jewish history. I also love the Wild
West, so finding a combination of both was like a good glass of
clear cold water. The site Jewish American History on the Web may lack a
bit on the graphics side but I found their articles, most of them eye
witness reports, fascinating. Their civil war section
had me reading for far longer then I intended, which is something to report about.

Sometimes bigger is better. Usually, we try to find ways to
bring good sites to your attention, but when it comes to a full range of
exhibits and information then the United States Holocaust
Memorial Museum is right up there with the best
of them.
Remember to visit the exhibitions.

The Orthodox Union has compiled a comprehensive information center and links site
to commemorate this month's observance of Yom Hazikaron,
Remembering Israel's Fallen Heros and Yom Ha'atzmautCelebrating the Independence
of the State of Israel. Especially moving is the Ben Gurion audio declaring independence.

And since we have two traditional picnic days for this month, I thought I'd throw in a
recipe from Empire Kosher called Auntie Rivka's Lag B'Omer Blackened
Chicken (as witnessed by the City Fire Department and Parks Canada fire wardens).
Now you just need to find a good campsite and a fire extinguisher. Happy Holidays!
