FOR THE FIRST TIME IN THE HISTORY OF ISRAEL:

FULL ISRAEL HIGH SCHOOL SCHOLARSHIP FOR NORTH AMERICAN JEWISH STUDENTS IN THE ELITE ACADEMY PROGRAM JOINTLY RUN BY THE JEWISH AGENCY AND THE ISRAEL MINISTRY OF EDUCATION

Israel’s Minister of Education, Limor Livnat, will inaugurate the program on Friday, May 30th , in New York

On Friday, May 30th Israel’s Minister of Education Limor Livnat and Chairman of the Jewish Agency’s Education committee, Amos Hermon will proclaim the opening of the Elite Academy program in North America. The program will enable Jewish High Schoolers aged 15-16 to study for three years (Grades 10-12) at one of Israel’s top High Schools and to qualify for the Israeli matriculation exam (the Bagrut, which is internationally recognized for university admission).

The Jewish Agency and the Ministry of Education will award full scholarships for flight fare, tuition, room and board and pocket money. During the course of their study the students will reside in dormitories, supervised by the Ministry of Education, and will enjoy a wide variety of extra-curricular cultural and sports activities, and excursions. They will enjoy full medical and dental insurance.

Jewish High School youth from North America, children of Jewish immigrants to North America and Israeli citizens residing in North America are eligible for the Elite Academy program.

The joint press conference of the Israel Ministry of Education, the Jewish Agency for Israel (JAFI), Russian American Jews for Israel (RAJI) and Council of Jewish Émigré Community Organizations (COJECO) will be held on Friday, May 30th, at the Kings Bay Y, 3495 Nostrand St, Brooklyn NY 11229, where the Jewish Agency recently established an “Israel Center” to reach out to Jewish émigrés from Former Soviet Union.
