PURIM SWEETS FROM CHICAGO SWEETEN PURIM FOR IDF SOLDIERS, DISABLED VETERANS AND VICTIMS OF TERROR
CHICAGO’S TOP ZIONIST DISTRIBUTES MISHLOCHEI MANOT AND LETTERS OF SUPPORT TO IDF SOLDIERS
Ms. Linda Harth, Director of Chicago’s American Zionist Movement, spent five days in Israel personally distributing 6,000 Mishlochei Manot packages (gift baskets of Purim goodies) to IDF soldiers, orphans, widows and disabled veterans and victims of terror. The packages were the gift of thousands of well-wishers throughout the United States.
The American Zionist Movement of Chicago initiated a nationwide campaign (now in its fifteenth year) known as “The Purim Connection,” in which they purchased Mishlochei Manot, to be delivered personally, along with letters of support from thousands of donors throughout the USA. This year’s response was particularly gratifying.

(Photos courtesy of Sarel)Though initially conceived as a means of expressing support for IDF soldiers and disabled veterans, the campaign was extended to include victims of terror and their families. With the assistance of Sarel (Volunteers for Israel) Ms. Harth distributed gift parcels to IDF orphans and widows, at the Givat Olga Rest and Recreation facility, to soldiers in military bases, to wounded soldiers in a hospital and to disabled veterans and victims of terror at the Beit Halochem Disabled Veterans Center in Tel Aviv.
