"Immigration (Aliyah) to Israel and Jewish Zionist Education will be top priorities of my Government" announced Prime Minister Elect Ariel Sharon in a telephone conversation with the heads of the Jewish Agency for Israel.

"Immigration (Aliyah) to Israel and Jewish Zionist Education will be top priorities of my Government" announced Prime Minister Elect Ariel Sharon in a telephone conversation with the Chairman of the Board of Governors of the Jewish Agency, Alex Grass and Chairman of the Jewish Agency Executive, Sallai Meridor. Sharon said that his goal is to bring more Jews to Israel and to strengthen the knowledge of every Jew in Israel and the world about the history of the Jewish people and the State of Israel. In this way, every Jew will be more connected to Israel and we will be stronger.

Grass and Meridor telephoned Sharon on Thursday to congratulate him on his election victory and to wish him success in his efforts to form a broad government of national unity.

Sharon said that in light of the difficult situation and anticipated difficulties in the future, he felt that there is no alternative but to form a broad based government. "Unity is crucial for security and peace and aliyah is the condition for the continued existence of the Jewish people. If we want Jews to remain Jews, it is important that they make aliyah" concluded Sharon in his conversation with the heads of the Jewish Agency for Israel.
