The Jewish Agency Allocations Program
The Jewish Agency for Israel has affirmed as one of the principles of its mission:
"To emphasize its role as an instrument for change within Israel by upbuilding
the land, by improving the quality of life throughout Israel, and by enhancing Israel as
the magnet for the Jewish people."
General Purpose
To enable organizations outside the Jewish Agency-WZO framework to receive funding for selected
projects. Allocations are awarded to selected projects that present innovative and
creative approaches for improving the quality of life in Israel or promote diversity in
Israeli society. Grants for Fiscal Year July 1, 2003 - June 30, 2004 were awarded to projects that involve and
address the needs of youth (ages 13-18). Information regarding funding criteria,
focus and application packet for FY 2004 will be available at our offices from Mid-March.
Policies
- Applications are accepted only from registered charitable organizations in Israel with an amutah certificate.
- Funding is provided for a defined project, not for an organization's general ongoing activities.
- The project must be carried out within the State of Israel.
- The following activities will not be funded: Capital expenses and purchases; Conventions or conferences; Research; Publications and productions; Preservation of historical sites; Establishing a Capital Fund for monetary grants or loans.
- Allocations do not exceed 75% of the total project budget, are approved on a yearly basis and are generally not approved for more than three years.
Procedures
- Applications are accepted once a year for projects to be carried out during the next calendar year.
- Applications must be submitted on a Jewish Agency Program Grant Application Form, which is available at our offices during the months of March and April.
- Allocations staff is available to counsel and assist applicants throughout the application process.
