Art center - Yad Le'banim - Afula, Israel
Partnership: Afula, Gilboa - Southern New England Consortium

Background
Afula lies on the crossroads leading to the northern part of Israel in the Jezreel Valley. Early Zionist settlers established the settlement in 1924. Since it’s establishment Afula has absorbed all the major waves of immigration in Israel’s history – starting from the mandate era. Through the years, Afula has expanded and built public institutions: schools, a regional hospital, industrial concerns, commercial centers, and services for the entire Jezreel Valley all located in the city. Today the population numbers 40,000 citizens.

Need
Afula has 6 dance groups (folk dance, ethnic, modern, and classic), 5 choral groups of children, young adults, adults, and the elderly, 2 brass - band ensembles, 5 schools of dance, and tens of extra-curricular clubs for song and music lovers. However, all these choirs, ensembles, and dance troupes need a home, an organized, professional work to be done. Currently, all these groups work in various rehearsal rooms scattered throughout the city. Conditions offered to the choral groups do not meet professional standards.
It is therefore necessary to construct a house for all the bandleaders, dance teachers, professional teachers, artists and all citizens of Afula and the Jezreel Valley, who appreciate the arts.
