Jewish Agency to work with the Foundation of Prisoners of Zion to Establish Fund to Aid Elderly Refusnicks
March 2002

| When the refuseniks finally arrived to Israel between 1987-1988, many of them failed to find jobs that fit their professional skills and were forced to accept low level, poor paying jobs to survive. Eventually, many found themselves in a much worse socio-economical status than compared to the former Soviet Union. Today, many refuseniks have reached retirement or are close to retiring, however, most of their pensions are less than 3,000 NIS per month, just below the poverty line. |
