David Goldberg, who has served many years as the director of the UJIA-Jewish Agency Israel Experience Department in the UK, is being awarded the President's Prize in recognition of his role as an educator. The award ceremony will take place on February 22, 2005 at Beit HaNasi (The President's House).
The Israel Experience UK, the joint flagship project of the Jewish Agency and UJIA, has had great success in increasing the number of British students visiting Israel this past summer. Zvi Kahana, director of the Jewish Agency in the UK and one of those who nominated Goldberg for the prize relates: "David, together with his devoted, professional Israel Experience staff and the wonderful Jewish Agency delegation staff working in Britain have succeeded these past two years in turning the tide. Over 1600 students attended the program this past year, in comparison to the 300 students participating two years ago."
The Israel Experience promotional campaign for this summer has begun and the Jewish Agency delegation in the UK is taking an active role in encouraging the enrollment of an even greater number of participants. The prediction for this coming summer is that the significant rise in the number of participants in the project will include more students as well.
