Let's Twin!

"Twinning" is the proven method of building bridges between communities and groups within those communities. While this may begin as an inter-organizational contact, it can and should act as a vehicle and catalyst for building real communication between people of differing or similar backgrounds who are geographically distant, but motivated to discover and close that gap with understanding.

The Purpose

The twinning projects below were especially created to focus on group and individual peer contact through Jewish and Israeli schools or organizations.

• To create and substantiate that contact, as part of the educational curriculum;
• To pursue acquaintances and study together;
• To bring Diaspora Jewish students and their Israeli counterparts closer to each other.

Twinning with a school or organization in Israel:

• will enrich your Jewish studies curriculum;
• will add a new dimension to Israel studies;
• will enrich the meaning of being Jewish today.
• will allow you to focus on an area of special interest to your school or organization.

The Participants

Broadly speaking, Twinning is open to middle and senior high age-groups via e-mail and Internet, with correspondence in English or Hebrew; and to junior elementary grades via class & teacher correspondence.

The Possibilities

Each project has a different objective and tactical approach - for example:

• VRV - actual encounters in Israel, with online preparation & follow-up;
• video-conferencing; production of web pages;
• exchange of project/exhibition work etc. on the web or by mail.
