 Informal and Adult Education.

The Pincus Fund does not believe that Jewish education is, or should be, confined to the classroom. Therefore, nearly one-fifth of the Fund's allocations have supported projects in Informal and Adult Education. These projects have encompassed diverse programs, populations, and communities. The Fund's projects have established Batei Midrash throughout the world, operated by students from Israel, under the direction of a Rosh Yeshiva. The students learn with members of the local community, and conduct outreach programs.

Numerous projects provide programming for Jewish students, both through establishment of new Hillel centers throughout the FSU, and through student organizations in France, Scandinavia, Argentina, Uruguay, and elsewhere. Other projects provide critical support for the revival of Jewish life in small communities. These projects have implemented a network of Jewish centers in small communities throughout Siberia; a learning center for high school students and young adults in Perth, Australia; educational centers providing Jewish Studies, computer training, and English, in small Jewish communities in the Republic of Georgia; a program which brings teachers to lead study sessions in five provincial communities in Argentina; a regional center for youth activities in Germany; and a program implementing Jewish Studies classes and havruta learning for parents, teachers, and community members associated with a Jewish day school in France. The range and the variety of these projects adds an exciting component to the Fund's work.

The Fund welcomes applications for informal education projects, which will strengthen and enhance Jewish life in their communities.
