A Valley of Battles
When the land of Canaan is partitioned among the twelve tribes who were the first Hebrews, the Jezreel Valley is allotted to Efrayim and Menashe, the sons of Joseph. Dissatisfied with their territory, they complain to Joshua who led the conquest of the country:

The valley of wagons

Joseph’s descendents complained to Joshua saying: « Why have you given us only one portion and only one lot as an inheritance when we make up a large population having been greatly blessed by God? » Joshua replied: « If you are so numerous, go up to the forest region and clear an area for yourselves in the land of the Perizzi and of the Refaim since Mount Efrayim is too cramped for you. » And the children of Joseph said: « The mountain is not enough for us and all the Canaanites that dwell in the valley in the land have iron chariots as do those in Beth Shean and its dependencies and those in the Jezreel Valley. »

Joshua 17: 14 – 16
