Kabbalat Shabbat

Kabbalat Shabbat is a special service recited immediately before evening services (Maariv) on the eve of the Sabbath. Traditionally it is said before sunset, and consists of selections from the book of Psalms and liturgical poem "Lecha Dodi" - "Come my friend to greet the Sabbath Bride".

Kiddush

Kiddush is recited over a cup of wine one the evening of the Sabbath and festivals, and again in the morning after services. A Kiddush reception, including refreshments is often held after services on Shabbat, especially when there is a Bar/Bat Mitzvah in the congregation.

Kippa

Traditional head covering for men, AKA yarmulke. The kippa is a sign of humility and respect for God.
