For a Jewish border
By A.B.YEHOSHUA
Jerusalem Post Internet Edition, July 22nd 2002

http://www.jpost.com/servlet/Satellite?pagename=JPost/A/JPArticle/ShowFull&cid=1025787840261

A lengthy expose of analysis and understanding of Jewish existence is applied to the current reality by this writer, whose word power is immense. The digression into history is important, and so is the discussion with contemporary Israeli poet Haim Gouri, but even if you skim this, to focus on the end of the article it remains cohesive and coherent in argument. AB Yehoshua's political views are well known, but his appeal for self-understanding and understanding of both political and human realities are pragmatic, as well as dramatic.

Benny Morris

http://www.guardian.co.uk/israel/Story/0,2763,422885,00.html

Israel's liberalization enables figures to address flight and certain expulsions of Arabs in 1948. The PA's rejection of a compromise solution was counter-productive (2000); however, refugee repatriation 'would spell the destruction of the Jewish state.'
