This activity will take the form of a television broadcast. Some
of the youngsters will take the following roles:
- an 18-year old who went to live in Kfar Etzion in 1946
- a youngster who is part of the Lamed Hey expedition
- a youngster who went back to settle in Kfar Etzion in 1967
- a youngster who decided today, in 1994, to go and settle in Gush
Etzion in order to bring pressure to bear on the Israeli government
and to prevent it from handing the area over to the Palestinians
- a young resident of Gush Etzion who decides, in 1994, to leave the
Gush and go back to live within the "Green Line" in order to facilitate
the peace negotiations
- a young member of Shalom Achshav who is against all settlements
in the territories, and who thinks that the existing settlements should
be removed, etc.
Each actor will be paired with another group member who will act
as interviewer. Each pair will be given about half an hour to practise
their interviews, and the organisers will move around to check that
the pairs know what they are talking about.
Then the broadcast begins. The presenter will strike a note which
is serious but keeps things in the realm of entertainment. The presenter
can substitute for any of the youngsters asking the questions who
is not able to do this properly. The interviews can be interspersed
with songs, slide showings or clips from newscasts.
At the end of the "broadcast", a general discussion will be held
on the topic that has been explored in this way.
