between children in Israel and children in the Diaspora is not a new idea.
Many teachers have been doing it for years. Until recently, pre-school
classes were left out of this process. It was thought that the children
were too young and that because they don't yet read there would be little
to exchange and less to learn. We believe that pre-school children can
enter into wonderful relationships with their Jewish friends around the
world using the variety of modes and media that are standard practice
in the early childhood classroom.
An
"idea-book" is available here for downloading. This book is
intended to help you create a meaningful relationship between teachers,
children and families in the Diaspora and their counterparts in Israel.
Hopefully, this relationship will afford BOTH groups the possibility of
gaining new understandings about the connection between Israel and the
Diaspora and about their membership in a much larger people that lives
around the world. Ultimately, we wish for our children (and ourselves)
to truly know that we are ONE people with many faces.
