Introduction
Yom Kippur: a time of reflection and introspection on one's deeds.
Thirty years after the Yom Kippur War, it is important that we
should be able to reflect on its place in Israel's history and
relate to its significance, beyond the immediate past.
There are many perspectives on the Yom Kippur War of October 1973
and many books have been written on the intelligence, military
and international diplomatic issues, others on the socio-political
changes in Israel, plus a few articles on bereavement. Far less
has been researched about the medium and long-term overall social
impact of the war on families and communities in Israel, for example,
or on how to address the war in the educational setting.
We bring below some new activities and a revised edition of the
Chronology, Implications - Aftermath and most of the educational
activity ideas in 1993, Rak Reka #18, The Yom Kippur War Twenty
Years On: A Watershed in Retrospect ©, which appeared
as the Oslo Accords were made public, together with its Thematic
Bibliography and Filmography.
Best of the Web, Thematic Bibliography, and recommended articles
and books appear separately.
