About the Rimon Music School:
Imagine the smoky jazz clubs of the 20s- the excitement of creating
a new music world and of being part of a community of young and talented
musicians using a common culture to create a music revolution.
Rimon
is to Israeli and Jewish music what the New York clubs of the 20s were
to jazz. It's not fancy, it's not classical, it's a place where young
and talented Israeli musicians come to do what they do best- make music.
Jazz and the blues were revolutionary in that they gave musicians the
platform to improvise, allowing the musician to become a 'composing
performer'. That platform is the basis of the Rimon teaching philosophy,
with the additional benefit of the unique Israeli and Jewish cultural
influence and atmosphere.
Rimon is Israel's largest independent professional contemporary music school, located in Ramat Hasharon (a suburb of Tel Aviv). Rimon offers eight majors: composition and arranging, film scoring, song writing, jazz performance, general performance, music production and engineering and an advanced program of composition, performance and production. The program is a 'work/study' program, but the work is playing and the study is the exploration of music. Students are assigned to ensemble classes at the beginning of the year and are encouraged to start playing in campus concerts and gigs. They also have the opportunity to record their work using the sophisticated campus recording studio.
About the program:
The Rimon Music Experience is a joint project of the Israel Experience
Ltd. Company and the Rimon Music School. The Israel Experience brings
thousands of Jewish youth to Israel every year and offers a wealth of
Jewish educational know-how and practical experience in running Israel
programs. The Rimon Music school contributes the unique content of contemporary
music, and together they offer this amazing opportunity for Jewish students
and young adults who live and breathe music. During the program students
are integrated into classes at Rimon, and join ensembles with the Israeli
students. In addition to the studies at Rimon, the program includes
Hebrew study, tours throughout Israel, seminars on Israeli society,
volunteering and the chance to explore one's personal identity as a
Jew and a musician.
