Appendix 1
Below is a chart summarizing the fate of several of the ships bringing
illegal immigrants to the shores of Palestine during the war.
On the basis of this table, define the British attitude towards the
Jews who managed to escape certain destruction in Europe.

camps.

4. Pacific 1,771 Passengers transferred to the British
"Patria" for deportation to Mauritius.
Following the ship's sabotage, the
deportation order was canceled, and
passengers were transferred to the
detention camp at Atlit.

connected to the illegal immigration to Palestine. You are now on the
beach near Haifa, witnessing the fate of one of the immigrant ships.
