Ethiopian immigrants living in the Mevasseret Absorption Center.

 

The staff of the Mevasseret Absorption Center, run and operated by the Jewish Agency, initiated and developed some new ideas and programs in order to keep the many teenage children of the 270 Ethiopian families that now live on the premises off of the streets.

Young Volunteer Educators

Ronen Weiss

 

Ronen's life changed when the intifada was raging. He realized just how little his peers in North America knew about the situation in Israel. Ronen joined the Young Volunteer Educators program to strengthen Israel-centered educational programming and ties to Israel.

Marcel Loeb, a social worker who works for the Jewish Agency, had the brilliant idea of developing a course for women emigrants from South America. Now, all that she needed to implement the concept was participants, partners – and money!

Roza Gluzman

 

As a lone immigrant student, Rosa receives assistance from the Jewish Agency's Fund for Lone Immigrant Students and Soldiers. This fund provides monthly stipends that help to alleviate some of the financial burden on students who have no immediate family in Israel.
