This unique project of the San Diego Jewish Federation and the Ibim Student Village was initiated early in 1998 by the Jewish Agency for Israel in conjunction with the Shaar HaNegev Regional Council, the Shaar HaNegev Regional College and the United Israel Appeal. The aim of this project is to provide a new model of support between world communities and Israel, by forging personal ties and commitment with a specific project, thereby providing a living bridge between them and Israel. The San Diego-Ibim partnership is the first individualized project of this nature, launched specifically to support immigration and absorption in Israel. It is hoped that this close, personal and long-term relationship will attract a wide variety of people in the San Diego community through various common interests, including those who have not necessarily been involved in the Federation's Israel activities before. This could also help contribute to its community building and fundraising efforts. Study Options: Housing and Guidance
