"Youth is of great importance to the future of Zionism and Israel," said Jewish Agency treasurer, Chaim Chesler, when he addressed the participants in the 22nd Zionist Youth Congress in Israel, organized by the Zionist Youth Council this week.

He suggested that one of the main tasks is immigrant absorption. He reminded the audience of the difficulties that some new immigrants have in integrating into the society of their veteran Israeli peers and of the number of young immigrants who have been killed or severely injured in terrorist attacks in recent months. "Just think of the suicide bombing outside the Dolphinarium club in Tel Aviv in June," he said. "All the victims were young; virtually all of them came to Israel as part of the wave of immigration from the FSU."

He challenged the audience to lead the way in helping young immigrants and their families absorb into Israeli society. "Adopt an immigrant," he said

"Youth is an extremely important factor in the future of Zionism and of Israel", said Jewish Agency Treasurer, Chaim Chesler, in an address to participants in the 22nd Zionist Youth Congress , which convened this week at the initiative of the Zionist Youth Council.

Referring to the Zionist movement's major challenges, Chesler said that absorbing olim is a key assignment. He described the numerous difficulties facing new olim in Israeli society and the large number of youngsters among them, who have been killed or injured in terror attacks in Israel in the last year. "Just think about the suicide bomb attack at the Tel Aviv Dolphinarium. All the victims were youngsters, and most were olim from the FSU", emphasized Chesler.

The Jewish Agency Treasurer presented the young generation with a challenge - to head a movement to assist in absorbing olim in Israeli society: "Adopt a new oleh"
