MESSAGE TO PALESTINIAN DEFENSE FORCES: AFTER CAMP DAVID BATTLE FOR JERUSALEM
![]() The transparency of the preparations for conflict with Israel were reflected in a briefing to Palestinian defense forces two months before the outbreak of the Al Aqsa Intifada. The lead article in the 28th edition of the journal "Al-Shuhada" (which is published by the political leadership and distributed among soldiers of the national border guard in the Gaza Strip) calls upon soldiers of the national defense forces, in the form of a daily order from the Palestinian leadership, instructing them to prepare for the forthcoming conflict with Israel. Following are the main points which appear in the article, signed by Ahmed Ibrahim Halas, commander of the political leadership of the Palestinian border police, entitled - "The Battle Begins": A call is issued - the negotiating government led by Commander Abu Ammar to our heroic Palestinian people - be prepared, the Battle for Jerusalem has begun. This is the meaning of the return of the Palestinian delegation to its homeland from Camp David without conceding the declared Palestinian position - there will be no peace without Jerusalem as the eternal capital of the Palestinian state. There shall be no stability and no security in the entire region unless Israel accedes to the legitimate international demands which have determined the principle of land for peace, according to the UN resolutions". And another message: "The failure of the summit meeting opens the option for struggle". Major Kaid Muhamad Gerada, a political activist in the border police of the national guard states in an article in the same journal, that: "The failure [of the Camp David summit] signals the end of the political settlement. And this is the end which opens the option for struggle and violence, and this is the beginning, a natural beginning for the end of the political settlement as a means of realizing the goals of the Palestinian people en route to liberation from the occupation".
