AN END TO DELAYS IN RELEASING MERCHANDIZE AT PORTS - WORLD RECOGNIZES ISRAEL'S NATIONAL LABORATORY ACCREDITATION In Tokyo, Israel signed an agreement for international recognition, which will save exporters and manufacturers hundreds of thousands of dollars. They will no longer be required to perform further weighing and measuring of Israeli goods at their ports of destination worldwide. Following the signing ceremony of a national recognition agreement, according to which the results of lab tests in Israel will be recognized by professional accreditation organizations around the world, the process of releasing goods and freight from ports around the world will be eased. Until now, Israeli exporters were forced to weigh and measure such goods at their destination, and goods were often delayed days or weeks, resulting in heavy financial loss, as they were sometimes spoiling or rotting. The agreement was signed by National Laboratory Accreditation Authority Director General - Dr. Ornah Dresin, and Chairman of ILAC (International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation organization) - Mike Fitt as well as Daniel Pier - chairman of the EA regional organization. According to the agreement, Israeli industry will be able to export products which bear certification from Israel's accredited labs and they will be accepted in most countries. The accredited labs are reviewed according to a special ISO international standard for lab management. The National Laboratory Accreditation Authority, which is affiliated with the Ministry of Industry and Trade, was reviewed by ILAC and complied with all international criteria. The agreement lays down uniform rules for examining labs worldwide and 30 countries have signed the agreement. These include: Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, China, Czech Republic, Finland, Denmark, South Africa, Vietnam, and more.
