FIFTEEN STUDENTS FROM MARYLAND ON SOLIDARITY MISSION TO ISRAEL

A fifteen member student solidarity mission from the University of Maryland is visiting Israel; arrived on December 25 and will stay until January 20. The group will be working on kibbutz Sdeh Eliyahu.

Mission organizers felt that it is very important, especially after the most recent terror attacks in Israel and America, to express support for Israel during this most difficult time.

The mission was made possible thanks to Yair Kalush of the Jewish Agency for Israel-Israel Aliyah Center of Greater Washington in Rockville.

In most such programs, the cost is borne by the participants, Singer says. But the 15 students taking part will pay only for airfare -- and even here, Kalush worked out an inexpensive El Al flight. He also arranged for health insurance for the students, free transportation from Ben-Gurion Airport to the kibbutz, room and board at no cost and several free tours of the Jordan Valley for the students by kibbutz members.
