LARGEST DONATION OF NORTH AMERICAN COMMUNITIES TO "SHIRUTROM"

NIS 1.4 M donated by the Cleveland, Washington and Chicago communities on behalf of IDF soldiers

The United Jewish Congress of North America, together with the Jewish Agency, donated NIS 1,400,000 to the IDF Soldiers' Association last week. This is the largest amount collected through the "Shirutrom" broadcast - the annual fund-raising event on behalf of IDF soldiers. The amount was raised by the Jewish communities of Cleveland, Washington and Chicago.

The donation was announced live on radio by Stephen Hoffman, Director General of the North American UJC, to Jewish Agency Chairman Sallai Meridor, who was in a special studio set up at the President's house.

The donation is part of a widespread solidarity campaign, currently conducted by the Jewish communities of North America on behalf of the State of Israel, under the sloggan: "Israel Now".
