"ARAFAT SCHOOL" TO OPEN IN RAFIAH TO TEACH WEAPONRY, USE OF EXPLOSIVES

The Palestinona newspaper, published by the Palestinian political leadership, reported in its last edition that preparations are underway in Rafiah to open the first school of its kind, in Arafat's name, to prepare pupils to join the organizational cadre of the PLO. According to the PLO secretary in the "Abu Ali lad" district of Rafiah and the school principal, the school's curriculum includes the study of different types of weapons, acquiring skills in their use, the use of explosives and their impact.

The article includes the details of three military courses taking place in Gaza for young Fatah members (shabiba). Courses named for Al Aqsa martyrs and "Abu Ali Iad" were held jointly with the national security organization and military intelligence, and attended by 150 activists and took place at a closed base lasting more than a month.

The publication further stated that the Fatah has announced the highest alert in preparation for the declaration of a Palestinian state. Abdel Hakim, head of the shabiba, stated that the Fatah youngsters are ready to defend Palestinian land regardless of the number of casualties, and mentioned defeats suffered by the IDF during the first Intifada and the Tunnel Uprising (September 1996).
