"LONG LIVE THE HAND THAT PULLS THE TRIGGER" - A POSTER OF THE P.A. POLITICAL MECHANISM, CALLING ON PALESTINIANS TO STEP UP INTIFADA TO ACHIEVE NATIONAL GOALS
In an op-ed piece that appeared in the Alsabah newspaper (published by the political leadership answering directly to Arafat), Ahmed Sharqawi writes the first public statement of the "National Intifada", in which he expresses support for initiating an independent Palestinian battle based on the armed struggle, while adhering to the basic national Palestinian position. Attached is a translation of excerpts from the article:
No voice shall be stronger than that of the Intifada No voice shall be stronger than that of the Palestinian People The People of the Palestinian Liberation Organization No voice shall be stronger than that of the united Palestinian leadership. The Intifada was not a default option, but a unique Palestinian creation.... The Intifada taught the occupiers a lesson regarding our struggle, patience and steadfastness.... The Intifada cannot be avoided. We have no other option beside the Intifada for our state.... Long lives the power of the stone. Long live the steady hand that pulls the trigger to protect the homeland. Praised be the martyrs of the Intifada. Praised be the People that refuses to bow to Israeli humiliation. Praise to the unity of the Palestinian People that has held all positions and opposes the arrogance of the occupation. Praised be our heroic injured [fighters]. The Palestinian People defending the independent Palestinian State shall enjoy eternal victory. Praised be the injured child general who has fought against the hating soldier, holding the Palestinian flag and emphasizing that Palestine is the property of the Palestinians. No one is entitled to concede our rights to it. Praised be the Intifada of the State Victory to our revolution From one victory to victory Revolution until victory
