ISRAEL'S INFORMATION CAMPAIGN - AT JEWISH AGENCY CONVENTION IN JERUSALEM NEXT WEEK

A special session on the subject of Israel's hasbara (information campaign) policy in the European and global media will take place next week as part of the annual convention of European shlichim (emissaries), held by the Jewish Agency.

Some 50 Jewish Agency education and aliyah shlichim to Europe, Australia and South Africa will attend the convention, due to take place next week from Sunday through Tuesday. These conventions are usually held in a European country, but this year it was decided to hold the convention in Jerusalem.

The session on the media and hasbara policy will be attended by journalists, Foreign Ministry officials and defense experts, in an effort to provide the shlichim with professional tools to assist them in confronting the media in their countries. Issues relating to the wider Jewish world, such as the state of Jewish communities in Europe, encouraging aliyah, particularly in times of crisis, and educational activities among Jewish students in Europe will be reviewed. The convention will take place at the Jewish Agency's Kiryat Moriah campus in Jerusalem.
