AMERICAN JEWISH MEDICAL ORGANIZATION GIVES THOUSANDS OF PAIRS OF GLASSES TO NEW IMMIGRANTS

Dr. Stephen Kutner tries a pair of glasses on one of the new immigrants who came for an eye examination

3,000 pairs of eyeglasses donated by Jewish Healthcare International, (JHI) a humanitarian organization of Jewish physicians in the US, will be distributed to new immigrants at Jewish Agency absorption centers throughout Israel. This week distribution began at the Nurit absorption center in Beersheba, with the participation of JHI founder Dr. Stephen Kutner, an ophthalmologist from Atlanta. JHI joined forces with the Jewish Agency's "People-to-People" Center, which facilitated global outreach efforts to provide medical assistance to Jewish communities throughout the world.

Dr. Kutner came to Israel to personally oversee the distribution of eyeglasses. After having eye examinations, the new immigrants at the Nurit absorption center were given glasses when needed.
