June 15, 1870 (133 years ago) - Charles Netter, secretary of the Kiach Association (Kol Yisrael Chaverim) settled in a cave in south of Jaffa and founded Mikveh Yisrael, the first agricultural school in Israel. He believed that agricultural education was essential in the Land of Israel as a means of encouraging aliyah. Mikveh Yisrael was actually the first modern Jewish settlement in Eretz Yisrael.

June 15, 1948 (55 years ago) - The "Burma Road" to Jerusalem was opened.

In June 1948, the Egyptian army encamped on the line between Jerusalem and Ashdod and the Jordanians were camped along the Latrun Hills. In order to bring provisions to the besieged Jerusalem, a new road was built, called the Burma Road after the road from Burma to China paved by the Allies during World War II. After about a month and a half of siege, the first convoy with provisions arrived in Jerusalem.

June 20, 1979 (24 years ago) - The Israel Basketball Team won the silver medal (second place) in the European Championships.
