CULTURE "LOOSE CONTACT": TO STRENGTHEN YOUNG ISRAELIS' LINK WITH THE JEWISH PEOPLE
![]() From the play Loose Contacts Photo: www.sassontiram.com Loose Contact - of Short Circuits, Attachments and the Jewish People is a new play produced by the Jewish Agency Education Department and the UJA-Federation of New York. The play seeks to encourage young adults to examine their connection to the Jewish people and Jewish communities throughout the world. The play was shown before audiences of youth, IDF soldiers, and students. Loose Contacts is an original play written by script writer Eli Weisbart, together with a team of actors, who incorporated their personal conflicts and experiences in the production. Joyce Klein, who has worked in the field of Jewish theatre for 25 years, directed the play. The music was written by Otni Oron, a student at the Music Academy in Jerusalem. Through drama, song, and movement, the play tells the story of Sivan, an Israeli girl who goes on a journey to discover her connection to the Jewish people. The journey is led by an electrician, an expert in contacts and short circuits, who accompanies Sivan in her confrontation with her identity. The play raises questions but doesn't answer them, provokes conflicts but doesn't solve them. The five actors - all sabras - are Sivan Raviv, Nadav Yalon, Yonatan Uziel, Eli Shimon, and Inbal Lory.
