The Israeli delegation to the Eurovision song contest left this week for Riga for the Eurovision song contest scheduled to take place in the Latvian capital this Saturday night. The Jewish Agency representative in Riga, Shlomo Kim, reports that the local Jewish community is very excited about the arrival of the delegation and its participation in the songfest.

An emotional meeting took place this past Tuesday between the delegation, which includes Israeli singing stars Lior Narkis and Zvika Pik, and 200 community members. The Jewish school choir and a dance troupe performed for the event, which was held at the Jewish Community Building.

"There is electricity in the air," said Kim. "The children have heard the song over and over through the Internet. They are terribly proud and hope that it will win." Lior Narkis was in second place on Riga's weekly list of top sings, after the Tato duo.
