JEWISH/NON-JEWISH FORUM AGAINST TERROR, ANTI-SEMITISM, & RACISM ESTABLISHED IN MOSCOW

A youth forum against terror, anti-Semitism, and racism, made up of Jews and non-Jews, has been established in Moscow at the initiative of the Association of Jewish Teachers, with the support of the Jewish Agency's Department of Education. The forum has received the sponsorship and assistance of the Duma, the Russian parliament.

One thousand Russian youth from throughout the republic took part in the forum's first meeting, held recently. In three days of sessions, the youngsters heard lectures and took part in workshops on terror, anti-Semitism, and racism. One of the central topics discussed was the Holocaust and its significance. Other items on the agenda included the process of democratization in Russian society and the influence of communications on education and culture.
