Youth Aliyah was established by the Jewish Agency to rescue children from Nazi Germany. In the 70 years of its existence it has cared for and educated over 300,000 youngsters - immigrant youngsters as well youngsters from deprived homes. April 11, 1961 (42years ago) - The trial of Adolph Eichmann began in Jerusalem
Eichmann, a native of Germany, moved with his family to Austria in his youth and became a member of the Nazi party, and later of the SS. Eichmann was responsible for the systematic slaughter of six million Jews in Germany and Nazi-occupied Europe, primarily in concentration camps and death camps. After the end of the war in 1945, Eichmann escaped from Germany and eventually found refuge in Argentina. In 1960, the Mossad, under the leadership of Isser Harel, captured Eichmann, and brought him to trial in Israel, where, in 1961, he stood trial before an Israeli court
