TANGO OF COLORS: ART EXHIBIT BY NEW IMMIGRANT ARTISTS FROM LATIN AMERICA AT JEWISH AGENCY ABSORPTION CENTER

A picture on display at the Gallery of the North

For the first time, the Gallery of the North, located at the Jewish Agency's Abba Hushi Absorption Center in Haifa, is presenting an exhibit dedicated to the work of new immigrant artists from Latin America. Drawings on fabric, photographs, sculptures, and typical South American artwork such as engraving on leather and copper, will be displayed.

During the five years of its existence, the Gallery of the North, which displays the work of new immigrant artists exclusively, has previously exhibited the works of artists from the FSU and Ethiopia -- drawings, etchings, sculptures, photographs, and engravings. The opening of the exhibit was marked by a reception that included a performance by a well-known tango singer from Latin America - himself a new immigrant from Argentina (3 weeks), now living in an absorption center in Nahariya.
