ISRAEL AND HUMAN RIGHTS IN THE TERRITORIES - INTERNET DISCUSSION IN ANTICIPATION OF INTERNATIONAL HUMAN RIGHTS DAY

An educational seminar on Israel and human rights took place this week via the Internet in anticipation of the International Human Rights Day, in December.

The seminar, presented by Dr. Gila Zilka, a media researcher from the Achva College, was broadcast over the Internet from the Jewish Agency's Contact Center to dozens of teachers and educators around the world. The seminar included a slide presentation and discussion about Israel's image in world media as a violator of human rights in the territories, and suggested educational ways of dealing with the issue.

Following the growing discussion on this topic in the world media, questions by students in the Jewish educational system around the world are growing and teachers are experiencing many difficulties in grappling with them.
