Sponsored by Israel Trauma Coalition to strengthen cooperation among various organizations The Israel Trauma Coalition, a national framework for organizations that provide trauma-related services, is holding a series of seminars and workshops for over 500 volunteers of ERAN, ICMC (SELAH), AMCHA and NATAL, to strengthen the volunteers in their work with trauma victims and their families, and to enhance cooperation among the organizations. The first seminar was held in Haifa last week, and additional seminars are taking place this week at Kibbutz Ma'aleh Hahamisha and next week in Netanya. The seminars are organized by Aliza Manor, Director of ERAN Kfar Saba, on behalf of the Trauma Coalition. The goal of the seminars and workshops is to focus on the volunteers, who are often the first address for trauma victims, and to strengthen them with professional tools and knowledge. The seminars are also designed to improve communication among volunteers in the various organizations, as well as to enhance cooperation among the organizations themselves. The program includes a lecture by Yaffa Singer, Head of the Unit for Treating Trauma Victims in the IDF, followed by workshops in self-awareness through movement and positive thinking, and emotional intelligence. Tali Levanon, coordinator of the Israel Trauma Coalition, said after the first get-together in Haifa, "It is very exciting to see these volunteers interact. They share a common goal; they encounter the same problems. Often they feel very isolated, very needy themselves. Through the workshops they have undergone experiences that can strengthen them in their work, and they have learned how they can cooperate with each other - to the benefit of the trauma victims." The Israel Trauma Coalition, which was established at the initiative of the UJA-Federation of New York, is headed by Dr. Danny Brom of the Israel Center for the Treatment of Psychotrauma. An ongoing exchange with New York, facilitated through UJA-Federation sponsored agencies, enhances the ability of professionals on both sides to benefit from shared experience. UJA-Federation of New York is the world's largest local philanthropy helping 1.4 million people in New York, as well as in Israel and 60 other countries.
