100,000 EGYPTIAN STUDENTS ON LIST OF VOLUNTEERS FOR JIHAD AGAINST ISRAEL
Thousands demonstrate at the El-Zahar Mosque in Cairo in support of the Palestinian intifada
There is a growing trend of identification with the Palestinian Intifada and suicide attacks among Egyptians. More than 100,000 Egyptian students registered as volunteers for Jihad (against Israel). The Egyptian students were required to undergo training by the popular defense committees, similar to the situation in 1956 (the British-French assault).

Ala Ibn ElAnin, a student at Cairo University "My sense of honor, as a Muslim, for the holy places (of Islam) in Jerusalem, my feeling that I am no less than the Palestinian suicide bombers, and the absence of action by world Arab leadership is pushing me to respond to the demand by students for Jihad and to die the death of the holy in Palestine"
Ahmed Nasser, a student at Cairo University: "I am prepared to do everything for Palestine…and gratefully accept death for Allah."
There is enthusiasm for Jihad also among the female students. During campus demonstrations in Cairo, coeds were seen wearing ribbons on their foreheads stating "suicide attackers" and calling to open the gates of Jihad
