Against Israel's Enemies on Campus ISRAEL HAS THE RIGHT TO EXIST FREE OF TERROR Thousands sign counter-petition in response to calls by the extreme Left to divest from companies doing business in Israel The Jewish world, with the assistance of the Jewish Agency, is increasing its activities against growing anti-Semitism More than 3,800 students and professors have to date signed a petition against defamers of Israel and extreme Leftists, who called for the universities to divest from companies doing business in Israel. The petition was initiated by the heads of Hillel at MIT, joined by activist students and professors at Harvard University. Their anger came in response to a petition circulated by Leftists at Harvard and MIT, denouncing Israel for infringing on the human rights of the Palestinians and calling for divestment from companies doing business in Israel, in order to harm the both the country and its people. The counter-petition reads: "We at Harvard and MIT, who support peace in the Middle East, strongly oppose the petition calling for divestment from investments in Israel …. "We have different opinions regarding the ways of achieving peace in the Middle East and different positions regarding the current policy of the government. Nevertheless, we are united in denouncing the petition calling for divestment because it is one-sided and intended to create a de-legitimization of Israel. Our colleagues must not respond to this tragic situation in the Middle East by taking a flawed position, which ignores what has been happening in the region in recent years and calls for the destruction of the Jewish state. "Israel has the right to live without terror!" The Hillel office at MIT announced that the response has been large and that thousands are expressing interest and support for the petition, which supports Israel and its right to exist. The Jewish Agency also took a decision to deepen its activities against anti-Semitism and to assist communities all over in their activities against bodies and organizations that have made it their mission to harm Jews. In recent weeks, anti-Semitic incidents have taken place in San Francisco, as well as in France, Rostov in Russia, Sofia in Bulgaria, Wellington in News Zealand, Montevideo in Uruguay, Brazil, and Germany.
