  • The Jewish Agency supports Zionist Yeshivot for Torah study in the Diaspora and the Bat Ami National Service organization, which sends young women abroad to serve as teachers in Jewish schools. Cost for 2002: $203,000

  • The Jewish Agency is planning to send 1,500 Israelis to serve as counselors in summer camps abroad (Canada, the US, the FSU, and Europe). Cost for 2002: $106,500

  • The Otzma program, which is supported by the Jewish Agency, brings young Jewish adults, ages 20-24, to Israel for a 10-month study, travel and volunteer program. Cost for 2002: $134,000

  • 10,342 new immigrants arrived in Israel since the beginning of 2002. 6022 of them came from the former Soviet Union.

  • 584 new immigrants arrived in Israel this week; 442 of them are from the FSU and Eastern Europe, and the others are from France, Switzerland, England, South Africa, Germany, Argentina, Peru, the US, and India.
