Makhteshim Agan Industries, Israel's main producer and importer of crop protection chemicals, acquired ownership of the German company Feinchemie for 24 million Euro. Makhteshim will in all likelihood pay an additional sum of 5 million Euro in accordance with the annual turnover of the German company, which markets generic pesticides. Feinchemie's sales totaled $40 million in 2001 - 60% in Germany and the balance in Western Europe. Angel Industries acquired a shopping center in Canada for some $19.6 million. The 32,000 square meter shopping center is situated 30 km outside of Montreal. The Israeli company, Attunity, a leader in business process, application and data integration, signed a contract with Consist International to sell $18 million worth of programs in South America, Germany and Spain. The Israelicompany NICE Systems won a tender to supply surveillance and early warning , put forward by one of the most important internal security institutions in the West. Because of the secrecy of the deal, neither the name of the country nor the size of the deal was not disclosed - only that the transaction was worth "millions of dollars." These systems are known for their unique sophistication that makes them very powerful with the ability to withstand harsh conditions and high temperatures. This week the Israeli Teva Pharmaceuticals launched its Copaxone Prefilled Syringe in the US; the product is unique because it can be stored for up to seven days at room temperature. Experts believe that most multiple sclerosis patients who are currently treated with Copaxone will prefer the prefilled syringe because it is more convenient and offers a better quality of life. Among competitors, only Saronno (symbol SRA) provides a similar solution. The Israeli company Oridion (symbol NSWX Oridion) that develops technologies for the diagnosis of medical conditions through non-invasive breath analysis, launched its BreathID® Breath Test System in several European countries this week. This was made possible after the Israeli company received the European CE seal, which is equivalent to the FDA authorization. The system makes it possible to detect the presence of the H. pylori bacteria, which is the major cause of peptic ulcers and gastric cancer.
