PESACH IN KISHINEV WITH STUDENTS
FROM EILAT-EILOT AND TORONTO

A group of 15 students - eight from the Eilat-Eilot region and seven members of the Hillel campus organization in Toronto - spent Pesach in Kishinev, Russia, where they were hosted by local Jewish students. The young adults are active in the Jewish Agency-UJC-Federations Partnership 2000 program, under which Eilat, Toronto, and Kishinev are linked in a trilateral relationship. One of the group's goals is to strengthen the bond between Israelis and world Jewry.

The intensive visiting schedule included meetings with representatives of the Jewish Agency and the JDC, a tour of Jewish cultural and community centers, Pesach seder celebrations at some 30 homes in the community, visits at homes for the elderly and the disabled, and a great deal of activity and satisfaction. At the conclusion of the visit the three delegations the visitors and hosts flew to Eilat. They were greeted at the airport by an emotional reception sponsored by Partnership 2000, based on the theme "A Land Flowing with Milk and Honey." Each participant received a gift that included honey, an apple and chocolate milk.

One of the highlights of the visit was the traditional Mimouna celebration celebrated the day after Pesach; greetings by Mayor Gabi Kadosh were received with great emotion and enthusiasm. During the following week, the delegations visited Eilat and the Eilot region, Jewish Agency projects and local nature sites such as the under-water observatory and the dolphin reef. Several of the visitors were so impressed that they decided to make aliyah.
