"ISRAELIS ARE WAITING FOR YOU WITH OPEN ARMS AND A WARM HEART" Delegation of Jewish Agency professionals and Government officials Leaving for Argentina Today to Assist with immigration of Aliya candidates. Jewish Agency Chairman, Salai Meridor, arrived in Buenos Aires yesterday morning for meetings with Emissaries, Heads of Jewish communities and members of the Jewish Communities in Argentina urging those wishing to leave due to the situation, to come to Israel: "Israelis are waiting for you with open arms and a warm heart." The government, together with the Jewish Agency, created a special assistance package for them, in order to facilitate their transition and absorption," said Meridor at the meetings that he had with Aliya candidates. The state of emergency in Argentina, continues and on Wednesday, the fifth President in two weeks, Eduardo Duhalde, was sworn in. The new President is identified with the left wing Peronist party, and faces the difficult task of restoring the country, which is wrapped in the severest political and economic crisis since democracy was restored in Argentina in 1983. In the past two years, the Jewish Agency has invested more than 9 million dollars on behalf of Argentinean Jews. Meridor held a number of conference calls briefing the Jewish Agency's Board of Governors, the World Zionist Federation, and heads of Jewish organizations in the world, as well as heads of Jewish Federations and Jewish Communities in North America. Today, a delegation of Jewish Agency professionals and Government Officials, joined the delegation to Argentina to assist with the Aliya effort, headed by Meridor.
