"HOT LINE" BETWEEN FSU AND ISRAEL MORE THAN 1,000 POTENTIAL OLIM WILL RECEIVE ANSWERS TO THEIR QUESTIONS IN OPERATION ORGANIZED BY JEWISH AGENCY IN FSU More than one thousand potential olim from all over the FSU will participate in an Israel- FSU "hot line", set up by the Jewish Agency on Sunday July 22nd. During the campaign, those interested in aliyah and the relatives of olim and soldiers will be able to submit any questions which they have about life in Israel and absorption opportunities. On this day, those interested in aliya will come to the Jewish Agency offices all over the FSU and will direct their questions to Israel "on line" by fax, phone or internet. The questions will be received in Israel at a special call-in center to be opened by the Jewish Agency at the National Institutions Compound in Jerusalem, where representatives of Israeli bodies who deal with absorption, such as the Jewish Agency, Ministry of Absorption, the IDF, olim associations, the NII, Employment Bureau, banks, local municipalities, professional training centers and Russian-speaking support groups and journalists will answer their questions. Questions posed by parents of single and young olim, who are in Israel on Jewish Agency education programs, will be answered by soldiers and olim who are themselves in Israel without their parents. In all, 25 Jewish Agency offices from all over the FSU will participate in the operation, according to the time differences between these areas in the FSU and Israel. On the Israeli side, there will be more than 20 experts from all walks of life and absorption activities. Vicki Angel- Kerem, Deputy Director General of the Jewish Agency's aliyah department who is responsible for this campaign, said - "particularly at this time, in view of the situation in Israel and the lack of objective information about events in Israel, it is important to provide potential olim with updated information first hand, as well as to calm the families of single olim who are in Israel without their parents". |
