A special song, by which all Jews in Israel and abroad can feel and express their solidarity with the State of Israel, was composed specially for the Rally for World Jewish Solidarity with Israel and Jerusalem, which took place this week at Jerusalem's Mt. Scopus amphitheater. The Rally included sound-and-light effects which accompanied the stories of olim from all parts of the world. Efrat Avraham, 26-year old sister of Benny Avraham, also spoke at the Rally. Benny Avraham is one of the soldiers kidnapped by the Hizbollah last year. She made an emotional appeal to the audience and shared the sense of pain her family suffers since her brother was abducted in October with no information available as to his fate. The special song was named after the Rally - "Solidarity", and was composed by Ronny Aviram, who previously composed the song "Victory for Maccabi" on the occasion of the Eurostar games in 1997. The song was performed by a quartet. The song has four verses and includes a refrain with Hebrew and English words understood by most Jews in the world: ".... Solidarity, Shabbat, Israel, Bar Mitzvah, Solidarity, Jerusalem, Ahavah (love), words which every Jew knows, for we are all one family, we are here, a prayer in the heart, prayer for peace, for this is our home!" |
