Moshe Vigdor

Moshe Vigdor assumed the position of Director General of the Jewish Agency for Israel in January 2005 after serving since 1992 as the Vice President and the Director General of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.

During the years 1983 - 1992 he served as the Managing Director, CEO, of Yissum Research Development Company of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Yissum is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Hebrew University for Technology Transfer, responsible for protecting the Intellectual Property and the know-how of the University and for commercialization of it to the industry.

Mr. Vigdor developed and built Yissum into a leading successful business entity serving the University, signing hundreds of licensing contracts with worldwide industrial corporations, and bringing substantial revenues to the university through research funds and royalties.

Mr.Vigdor obtained his degree in Industrial and Management Engineering in 1974 from the Faculty of Technology, Ben Gurion University of the Negev.

He was also the operations manager of one of the first science based industry companies in the country, in the area of biotechnology, a joint venture between Yissum and Miles Laboratories, Elkhart Indiana, USA.

During the last twenty years Mr. Vigdor has served as a member of the Board of Directors in numerous science based industries and high tech and startup companies. He was instrumental in establishing the Technological Park adjacent to the university campus in Givat Ram, and the High Tech Village in the Edmond J. Safra Campus in Givat Ram, another successful enterprise.

Serving as an executive officer in the industry, in the Technology Transfer Company and in the heart of academic administration positioned Mr. Vigdor as a worldwide expert in the areas of Technology Transfer and the Management of University – Industry relations.

In his capacity as a special consultant to IIEP (International Institute for Education planning) / UNESCO, he has lectured in the IIEP/ UNESCO team of Education courses given to university staffs around the world.

He initiated and was deeply involved in the comprehensive land arrangements of the University with the Israel Land Authorities, and was one of the founders of the university assets company. Mr. Vigdor serves on the boards of numerous companies and public foundations.
