Jewish PartnershipThe North American Jewish community and Israel share a very strong and special partnership, dating back to the early days of modern Zionist movement. As the North American community continues to play a key role in Israel's development, the Israeli side of the partnership provides North America with a key avenue for Jewish involvement and identity. The partnership assures that the world's two largest Jewish communities continue working together to initiate and implement a network of hands-on, face-to-face involvement opportunities.
The Jewish Agency, dedicated to continually cultivating this special relationship, developed Partnership 2000 together with the United Jewish Communities and Keren Hayesod / United Israel Appeal. Partnership 2000 links members of over 550 Jewish communities around the world with residents of 38 Israeli regions. The partners work jointly to promote regional development in Israel, Jewish unity and Jewish identity. Recognizing the vital link to involvement in Israel, the majority of North American communities have chosen to take part in Partnership 2000, with most increasing their involvement over time. Some 650 programs, selected by Partnership steering committees, are taking place in the regions. More than 10,000 people take part in Partnership 2000 interactions each year.
